Volunteer - a special category of supporters
who donate a very valuable resource: their time and efforts.
Service Hours
- hours earned by volunteers while donating their time and
efforts. The Food Bank can provide each volunteer with a
record of their service hours. These are used for fulfilling educational
requirements, community service for minor offenses, demonstrating
your active participation in our community and acknowledging your
generosity.
Volunteers are the heart and spirit of the Food
Bank. Without their help and support, the Food bank could not
succeed. Last year, over 1,100 volunteers provided time equivalent
to 9 full-time employees by volunteering over 18,000 hours at the
Food Bank. The following are a few of the ways in which you can
become involved with the Food Bank.
• Sort donated food items or work in the warehouse
• Help with special events
• Serve food at one of our agencies
• Share your computer skills
• Serve as an ambassador
• Help with mailings
• Contribute your great writing skills
• Assist with office duties: filing, answering phones, or
donate your computer skills
• Assist with outside landscaping and other efforts
• Be a Barrel Buddy
• Organize a food drive
• Sponsor a family in need
We ask that you call or e-mail to schedule a time for volunteering.
