Empty Bowls 2018

Monday January 29, 2018

What is Empty Bowls?

Empty Bowls is an international project to fight hunger, personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level. This event will take place in Baton Rouge for the fourth year in a row, on April 14, 2018. You are invited to attend this special event, presented by Baton Rouge Clinic, WVLA and FOX44, to experience a unique fundraising effort that offers access to hundreds of handcrafted ceramic bowls from local Baton Rouge artists, followed by a simple meal for lunch. Tickets are $20.00 and will include one ceramic bowl of your choosing as well as lunch. The event will start at 11 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. Additional bowls can be purchased at the event. All proceeds from this Empty Bowls will benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. A special thanks to the many artists who have created bowls for this event, our sponsors and all those who have contributed to this event.

WHEN IS EMPTY BOWLS?

Empty Bowls Baton Rouge, presented by Baton Rouge Clinic, WVLA and FOX44, will take place at the East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, located at 7711 Goodwood Blvd. in Baton Rouge on Saturday, April 14, 2018, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. Purchase tickets here ahead of time to attend.

HOW DOES THE EVENT WORK?

Guests purchase a $20.00 ticket to attend the event. That ticket allows them to choose an original, handmade, ceramic bowl to use that day for their meal. After the meal, guests are allowed to keep the bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. One hundred percent of each meal’s proceeds are devoted to fighting hunger through the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. The goal of this event is to raise awareness while also collecting critical funds to provide food for those in need across the Food Bank’s 11-parish service area.
