Check Out Hunger 2014

Tuesday June 3, 2014

The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank needs your help to stock the shelves this summer.  Be part of the Redstock Summer Drive to help the Food Bank make it through the critical summer months. Redstock is a summer-long, community-wide movement dedicated to helping those in need across the 11 parishes that the Food Bank serves. The summer is a challenging time for the Food Bank, but you can help. Host a Redstock food drive or fundraiser in your neighborhood, at your office, your gym, your summer camp – anywhere you can think of!

Throughout the summer, a number of events will be taking place under the Redstock umbrella, including Check Out Hunger 2014!

WAFB and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank are teaming up to present Check Out Hunger, a donation program implemented by Baton Rouge area grocery stores. From June 17 to July 25, simply look for Check Out Hunger tickets at the register of your favorite participating grocery store. Select a ticket for either $1.00, $3.00, or $5.00 and hand your ticket to the cashier. The cashier will scan your selected ticket, adding the amount to your grocery bill – simple as that! Keep in mind that at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, $1 is equivalent to 5 meals. You really can make a difference and every bit counts. One meal at a time, we can improve the community that we serve across 11 parishes. Together, we’re fighting hunger.
