About Member Agencies

Member Agencies are the links between the food bank and the hungry people we feed.

A food bank serves as a collection and warehousing center. We procure, purchase, sort, and distribute the food to our agencies (churches, mealsites, soup kitchens, shelters, group homes, emergency services, etc.). Agencies interact with each person in need to ensure they receive the necessary support.

Member Agencies are located in the Food Bank’s 11-parish service area.

A service area is the geographical region that a food bank serves.

The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank serves Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, and a satellite distribution center in Tangipahoa Parish – Our Daily Bread  in Hammond, LA.

Member Agencies receive food from the Food Bank free of charge.

Each agency is placed in a food bank classification.

The classification determines the types of items that an agency is able to access from our warehouse.
